CASE STORY: Freedom to build...

We live in an old house and wanted to add an extension. We knew that we wanted as much light as possible, so we decided to construct a glass atrium between the new and the old buildings. The atrium was designed to function as a kind of conservatory, with a wood burning stove built in to keep it warm in winter and to make it especially inviting to use.
To prevent ruining the original look of the house, and to avoid having to look at a chimney from inside the atrium, we decided to go for as low a chimney as possible. However, this meant that there would be a good chance that the updraught in the chimney would not be sufficient, and that the glass roof of the atrium risked becoming covered in soot.
We got round this problem by deciding to install an EXHAUSTO chimney fan. This turned out to be absolutely the right decision for us and for our house! We were able to build the chimney we wanted, and we have not had any problems with smoke or poor updraught. On top of the freedom to build what we wanted, the chimney fan has also meant that the big glass door in the stove does not get covered in soot, and that the stove no longer generates as much dust and soot as we had been used to with the old stove without a chimney fan.
CASE STORY: We cleared the house of smoke in an afternoon!

When we moved in it was important for us to find a suitable wood burning stove. It had to function as the primary heat source, providing heating for the entire house. We use the stove on a daily basis, but we often found that smoke billowed into the living room and that the glass doors on the stove became covered in soot, not to mention the the black sooty shadow that appeared on the wall behind the stove.
It turned out that in our search for the biggest and best stove we had not considered the potential problem between the size of the stove and the size of the chimney. The house is also situated close to a number of large trees, which means that during certain weather conditions the updraught in the chimney is reduced, making it difficult to light the fire.
We were told that we could solve the problem using a remote controlled EXHAUSTO chimney fan. It took us an afternoon to install the chimney fan ourselves. The remote control includes a 5 metre cable and plug as standard, this allowed us to plug it in close to the stove.
We have now been using the chimney fan for a couple of months and we're happy to say that it works really well. It's extremely effective and we no longer have any smoke billowing out into the living room when we open the stove door. We can actually see the smoke disappearing up the chimney ...
We should also add that we take much more pleasure from the actual fire now that we can see it through the glass door.
CASE STORY: Smokefree for 27 years!
27 year ago Mr and Mrs Fowler had a new large fireplace installed in their house in Bradwell-on-Sea, they suffered from smoke in their living room every time the fire was lit.
Their architect said that the problem was caused by the fireplace being too large for the chimney, so they tried down-sizing the fireplace, without success. They also tried fitting an H-cowl, still without success. So the architect recommended an EXHAUSTO chimney fan system.
Late summer 2007, when the chimney fan system needed routine maintenance the engineer working on it discovered that it had been installed in 1980 – twenty-seven years ago - and had worked without problem ever since until now.
